Cutthroat trout and Chinook salmon, the Alsea River is one of the best places to fish for steelhead. Fishing is just one of the relaxing outdoor things to do. Mountains and many outdoor activities, rivers, oregon is a beautiful state full of green trees.
Waldport is close to Newport which is one of the most popular Oregon coast towns. It is in the coast range northwest of Eugene and flows to the sea at Waldport. The river flows over 50 miles.
They move to the river through October. Sea-run cutthroat trout come to the tidewater of the river starting in July. December and January are the peak times for steelhead. Steelhead come to the river from December to March. In September through November you'll find these fish at their peak. In mid-August Chinook salmon enter the Alsea River.
The river flows through the Siuslaw National Forest which is a beautiful spot to relax in. Public boats may be launched in the river.
This river is a great place to fish in Oregon. Sea-run cutthroat trouts can be up to 20 inches but usually average at 12-16 inches. Steelhead run around 8 pounds. Alsea River Chinook salmon weigh around 25 pounds average.
If you're looking for a nice place to take a vacation at or just visit for a day be sure to visit the Alsea River. Spring and summer are the best times weather wise to enjoy the outdoors even in Oregon. Kayak and do several relaxing outdoor activities, boat, picnic, fish, the Alsea River is a great and pretty place to relax.
